Online-Introduction to the Environment Rating Scales
December 8 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm$25.00
This three-hour virtual course is intended for childcare providers who are familiar with the Environmental Rating Scales for program assessment. The course will provide you with an introduction to the Environment Rating Scales, referred to as ERS tools. The ERS tools provide an overall picture of the environment that has been created for the children and adults who share an early childhood setting. There are four Environment Rating Scales used in the different segments of the early childhood field, this course will introduce you to each scale, providing an overview of how and when to use each scale to assess program quality. This training will enable participants to work with a YoungStar Technical Consultant, explore the scales, ask questions, add additional notes for clarification, and highlight required interactions. Participants are encouraged to take one or more of Exploring courses after completion of this course, for a comprehensive look at the individual scales.
Participants will receive a copy of the ERS scale (approximate value of $25) they request and handouts upon registering and paying for the class. Family childcare providers should request the Family Environmental Rating Scale (FCCERS-3). Group staff working with children ages 3-5 years, should request the Early Childhood Environmental Rating Scale (ECERS-3). Group staff working with children ages 0-2 years, should request the Infant Toddler Environmental Rating Scale (ITERS-3).
