Participants will explore what loose parts are, the theory of loose parts, linkages between the early learning standards as well as the school-age curricular framework. The course is broken into sections that look deeply at experiences and intent of loose part play, getting started, types of materials to include, safety considerations, organizing materials and how to begin the journey with children. The workshop component will give all participants the opportunity to share and reflect on ideas they implemented in their classrooms as well as provide an opportunity to engage in active exploration of loose parts. The course will serve to expand participants understanding of the benefits of loose parts exploration in early learning environments.
